We talk about the first work of Alex Infascelli, a Roman young director after having directed several video clips of famous artists around the world, decided to devote himself to the thriller.
Almost Blue is based on the book of the writer and presenter Carlo Lucarelli (fear, eh?) And gave assurances to the director numerous awards including the "David di Donatello," and the "Silver Ribbon".
The story takes place in a city ever so dark and spooky. The young Grazia Negro is a police inspector who works in a team against violent crime. The Negro and his team, investigating the violent deaths of some young university students found naked and horribly tortured. In aid of the police arrive Simon (Claudio Santamaria), a young blind man who has the gift to recognize voci, attribuendo un colore alle stesse. Fra musica tecno a tutto volume e fiumi di sangue, Grazia, con il suo fiuto e la sua tenacia, dovrà cercare di afferrare questo "serpente" capace di cambiare la propria pelle con quella delle sue vittime, prima di essere coinvolta personalmente.
Non se ne può parlare male, un film godibile e con alcuni spunti davvero interessanti che Infascelli avrebbe dovuto approfondire. Insomma, sufficiente, ma sarebbe potuto essere molto buono con attori migliori (non i protagonisti, ma quelli di contorno), e con una sceneggiatura meno confusionaria.

I've never been to Hollywood, but I would not be surprised to find in these parts a bronze statue natural height (1.93) of the great Stephen King. Yes, because one thing is certain: when a director and screenwriter are dry of ideas, the solution may be to draw liberally from the imagination of the writer in Portland. Hafstrom focuses on the content of a story in the collection "Everything's possible" published in 2002 with good results both in the U.S. than here in Italy.
The protagonist of the story is Mike Enslin (Cusack), a writer sui generis, fond of paranormal phenomena, that reviews the most terrifying hotels in the world, challenging local beliefs. Enslin was a promising writer of fiction, but the premature death of her daughter, and the separation from his wife, led him to take this route made of loneliness and instability. One day, Enslin receives a postcard advertising the Dolphin hotel, the message that says: "Do not enter room 1408". Mike sees everything as a challenge already won, and decides to review the room where nobody here ha mai resistito più di una notte, e questo nonostante gli insistenti tentativi del direttore dell'albergo (Jackson) di far desistere lo scrittore dalla sua scellerata volontà.


Dentro quella stanza si nasconde il male più oscuro, che colpisce gli ospiti nel proprio profondo e li spinge al suicidio. La sfida di Mike questa volta sarà più difficile del previsto.


Non possiamo parlare di un "filmone", ne paragonarlo ai successi precedentemente citati, ma "1408" è un film scorrevole e tutto sommato piacevole. Da guardare senza troppe aspettative.

Per la serie "non tutti sanno che", non tutti sanno che Pupi Avati e il suo amico Maurizio Costanzo (si si, proprio lui) un tempo sceneggiavano assieme thriller di gran gusto e qualità. Poi, è storia recente, Avati ha continuato a rimescolare il suo cinema da un genere all'altro con buoni risultati, mentre Costanzo ha recentemente perso ogni credibilità, dedicandosi a show e teatrini di dubbio gusto.
Concentriamoci però su quello che di buono ci è stato lasciato, commentando un thriller rimasto indelebile nella mente degli appassionati per le ambientazioni e le inimitabili atmospheres.

Quante volte sentiamo di musicisti accusati di plagio dai colleghi piu o meno famosi, e quante volte, obiettivante, i brani si assomigliano? E' successo, niente di meno, al compianto Michael Jackson di essere accusato di plagio addirittura da Albano (che ha poi vinto la causa). Ed è inutile provare a dire che le note sono sette. Ma quante volte abbiamo sentito parlare di film plagiati? Io sinceramente mai.. "The strangers", nel caso, sarebbe il protagonista di numerosi contenziosi da Part of directors more or less famous, as the movie is a soup of things already seen and reviewed. A proposito, si dice che sia ispirato ad una storia vera, ma poi,parole del regista, scopriamo che: "da bambino vivevo in una casa su una strada nel mezzo del nulla. Una sera, mentre i nostri genitori erano fuori, qualcuno ha bussato alla porta e la mia sorella più piccola ha aperto (…) Più tardi abbiamo scoperto che queste persone bussavano alle porte di tutta la zona, e se non trovano nessuno in casa, entravano e rapinavano gli appartamenti". Bè, non è proprio la stessa cosa...

Gli appassionati di genere che, al cinema o in televisione, hanno visto il trailer del film si saranno detti: cavolo! Questo si che sembra un film interessante. La confezione sembra molto ben fatta, attori importanti e atmosfere da brivido. Ma poi si scopre che a dire il vero il "plot" non è niente di originale, Dennis Quaid non è il più bravo di Hollywood and the atmosphere a little ricodano "Saw."

E' brutto dirlo, ma il thriller al'italiana è davvero morto e sepolto, e i pochi tentativi di resurrezione sono penosi e confusionari. Gli emuli di Fulci o Argento sono parecchi, ma i risultati scarsi. Ci prova Bessoni con un'idea non originale e scimmiottata proprio da Dario Argento in "Quattro mosche di velluto grigio". Presso una scuola di cinema, in un luogo e un tempo non precisato, il giovane studente Bruno, prova a dimenticare i recenti drammi familiari puntando tutto sulla sua carriera cinematografica. Un giorno, mentre stava fotografando un soggetto, Bruno rimane colpito da una visione di un ragazzo-fantasma. L'ectoplasma indica a Bruno la strada per trovare un misterioso congegno, chiamato "thanatografo", che permette di fotografare l'ultima immagine vista da un morto estrapolandola from the retina. Nel sito si vede un filmato di un gatto che viene torturato fino alla morte, in proprorzione agli accessi sul sito. Ma quando dagli animali si passa agli uomini, inizia la caccia al perverso killer, che uccide grazie ai click dei curiosi.
Certo, non parliamo di un capolavoro, però è ben fatto e vi coinvolgerà fino alla fine. Anche se... quando l'assassino si nascondeva tra i quadri o le bambole...era tutta un'altra cosa.

Ho cercato in lungo e largo, ho letto e riletto parecchie critiche su questo film, ma di critiche negative neanche l'ombra. Parliamo di un film che ha ricevuto premi in ogni angolo del mondo, anche in italia (Torino film festival), and what will be done soon be a Hollywood remake. Yet, for me, I'll do the black sheep, and put me on the side of the very few who have commented at the end of the film with a loud "Bah!" The story takes place in Sweden, where 12enne Oskar is constantly abused by a group of bullies at his school. The boy has no friends, and spends his evenings playing alone in the snow outside the house. Until the little Eli and his father moved to the apartment next door to Oskar. The two boys become close, their is a very sweet friendship and complicity. But Eli is not a normal child, but a vampire who needs blood, and when it can not get them killed, è il padre ad uccidere per lei. Oskar farà entrare Eli nel suo mondo, e troverà nella ragazza la forza per reagire e crescere.
Se "Lasciami entrare" voleva essere una versione per adulti di "Twilight", l'esperimento è pienamente riuscito. Quando invece leggo di un film profondo e innovativo,rimango perplesso commento con un altro fragoroso "bha!"

Parliamo di uno dei film meno considerati e peggio trattati dalla critica del periodo d'oro del thriller italiano. Ma se sia il regista (autore anche del capolavoro "E tu vivrai nel terrore! L'aldilà") sia Quentin Tarantino, ritengono questo uno dei migliori film di genere un motivo ci sarà.
La storia si svolge in un paese immaginario nel foggiano, dove tre amici dodicenni vengono strangolati e i loro cadaveri abbandonati nella campagna. Le accuse cadono prima su un minorato mentale e poi su una fattucchiera che aveva avuto un contenzioso coi tre. Gli alibi dei due si rivelano intaccabili, e la polizia quindi brancola nel buio. Come spesso accade nel thriller italiano non è la polizia, ma in questo caso il giornalista Andrea Martinelli (Tomas Milian) a sciolgiere la matassa e a rivelare l'intrigo che sta dietro al massacro di bambini. Un film che fu martoriato dalla critica, sia per la violenza sui minori che per le scene di nudo in presenza di bambini. Memorabile la scena del linciaggio della "maciara" sulla musica di Ornella Vanoni.
Senza dubbio uno dei film più belli di Fulci, che nella sua incursione nel thriller non disdegna un pò di splatter, come la scena finale dimostra.
Esiste anche un'edizione non censurata in dvd.

Gli attori forse un pò piatti (ma questo Josh Holloway è così bravo come dicono?) non convincono, escluso il piccolo Blake Woodruff che se la cava egregiamente. Considered one of the best work of Light, "The Three Faces of Fear" is a horror in episodes of the most popular overseas. Karloff è il protagonista del secondo episodio (quello considerato dalla critica il piu bello), e il narratore tra un episodio e l'altro.
Il primo dei tre si chiama "Il telefono". In questo episodio una giovane ed affascinante donna viene tormentata dalle telefonate di un maniaco che minaccia di ucciderla. Questo forse è l'episodio meno brillante dei tre, ma nel panorama horror è la prima volta che il terrore arriva dal telefono, ispirando film moderni come "Scream" su tutti. Nel secondo episodio Karloff lotta contro una stirpe di vampiri, facendosi contagiare e portando così il male nella sua famiglia. "La goccia", l'ultimo episodio, racconta di un'infermiera che sottrae ad una paziente morta un prezioso anello. Lo spirito della morta tormenterà la povera donna fino..alla fine. Un film che scorre piacevolmente, e nonostante i parecchi anni di vita riesce a sorprendere e a spaventare, soprattutto nel terzo episodio, che a mio parere è il migliore.
Uscito negli States col titolo "Black Sabbath", sembra essere stato l'ispirazione al nome della famosa band.

Ennesima prova della fantasia e del buon gusto spagnolo in fatto di horror. Dopo aver stupito con "La spina del Diavolo", Guillermo Del Toro si mette anche a fare il produttore, "sponsorizzando" il giovane e promettente Bayona.
Siamo in Spagna, dove Laura, una giovane donna, rileva col marito quello che fu l'ofanotrofio dove passò parte della sua infanzia. Lo scopo della coppia e quello di trasformare l'enorme possedimento in una casa famiglia per ragazzi diversamente abili. Assieme alla coppia vive il loro figlio adottivo, Simon, il quale è ammalato di AIDS. Laura e il marito sperano che la nuova realtà aiuti il piccolo Simon a confrontarsi con altri bambini, e a smetterla quindi di giocare con amici immaginari.
